Crystal Bead Angel

Crystal Bead Angel

Crystal beads are really nice for items displayed in lighted areas like windows or christmas trees. You can get the plastic ones pretty cheap at any crafts supply store. I even saw them in walmart. The glass or real crystal can be very expensive, so we didnt use those. Making a crystal bead angel ornament for your Christmas tree is very easy. Just follow these steps.

Supplies

  • gold or silver wrapping wire
  • small metal rivet beads (wings, halo)
  • 1 large crystal bead (head)
  • medium crystal beads (body)
Tip

  • Any round beads should work for this project. Just make sure you have a large bead for the head, medium beads for the body, and small beads for the wings and halo.

Start at the bottom

Get about 3 feet of wire to start off. Find the middle and string 15 medium crystal beads to form the base. Weave bolth ends of the wire through each section. Count the beads for each section starting from the bottom. Work your way to the top decreasing beads at odd numbers.  *e.g. 15, 13, 11, 9 ….

Angel Wings

When your down to 3-2 beads, go right into forming the wings with the smaller beads. Do one side at a time adding beads until you have the size of wing you like. Then thread back through the body and start on the other wing.

Head and Halo

After the wings are made, add a large bead for the head and twist both ends of the wire tightly around the top of the head. Twist the wire above the head and go right into forming the halo. Shape the halo to the correct size and attach it back to the wire. Snip off the extra wire you dont want. And it’s done. crystal bead angel
