HOMEMADE GIFT IDEAS

Safety Pin Headdress

Safety Pin Headdress

I saw this safety pin headdress being sold at a local crafts fair and decided since i have all the materials I’d give em a try. These are about as simple as it gets for a craft project and make a great gift just about anyone would appreciate! :)

Supplies for this project are large safety pins, beads, wire and feathers.

Get your safety pins and add the colored beads you want to use. You will need at least 11 pins for it too look right. We used 11 pins on this one.

Now to assemble the safety pin headdress you will need some strong wire that wont break when you bend it. String wire on both ends of the pins so there all connected and facing the same direction. Add beads between the pins as your putting it together. Use smaller beads for the front and some large beads on the ends. This will give a fan effect and make it easier to shape.

To finish the back of the headdress, use a bead and re-string the wire back through the pins. Add a final bead on the other side and tie off tightly with the remaining wire.

Now for the front. Center the wire and add beads on both ends. You can start working the shape at this point. Use the last bead on each side to tie off the wire. Finish these ends off with some small feathers. All that’s left is hanging it with some nice wire or string.
